American Heart Association awards

We are pleased to announce that Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center recently received the following Get With The Guidelines® Quality Achievement awards from the American Heart Association (AHA):

• Heart Failure – Gold Plus
• Stroke – Gold Plus with Target Stroke Elite Plus Honor Roll and Target Stroke Advanced Therapy Honor Roll
• Mission: Lifeline STEMI – Gold Receiving Plus

These awards recognize facilities for their implementation of quality improvement measures that ensure cardiovascular patients receive efficient and coordinated care according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines, ultimately leading to more lives saved, shorter recovery times and fewer returns to the hospital. We couldn’t do this without our team members who provide top notch heart and stroke care.

Get With The Guidelines is the AHA’s hospital-based quality improvement program that improves heart and stroke care by promoting consistent adherence to the latest scientific treatment guidelines. Research has shown that hospitals adhering to clinical measures through Get With The Guidelines often see fewer readmissions and lower mortality rates.

To receive one or more of the awards, hospitals must maintain proven quality indicators known to speed patient recovery and reduce death and disability for patients. The award levels reflect the amount of time the hospital has consistently adhered to the indicators.
