Whether you need coverage for dental care or want to join a fitness center, Medicare Advantage Plans offer various options for supplemental healthcare coverage.
Medicare Advantage plans, sometimes called Medicare Part C or Part C, are an alternative to Original Medicare. Though they offer all benefits covered under Original Medicare (medical insurance and hospital insurance), most Medicare Advantage plans offer supplemental coverage for various things that Original Medicare doesn’t cover, such as dental care, fitness, hearing and some costs related to vision care. Some Medicare Advantage plans offer even more additional benefits, such as transportation and over-the-counter benefits.
Here are some supplemental benefits to expect with New Hanover Heath Advantage’s Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug plans:
New Hanover Health Advantage plans include coverage for basic preventative dental care, such as basic cleanings, oral exams and x-rays. In addition to these no-cost benefits, members can expand their dental benefits by purchasing a silver plan or a gold plan. These optional plans offer benefits beyond the basics, such as oral cancer screenings, panoramic x-rays and oral surgery.
New Hanover Health Advantage offers a fitness allowance program that will reimburse members up to $300 annually for the cost of using the gym of their choice. Fees will be reimbursed for commercial, public fitness facilities that have a full complement of supervised fitness activities and equipment.
Members are offered 16 one-way trips to medical appointments annually. The transportation is provided through two local vendors.
Worldwide Emergency/Urgent Coverage
New Hanover Health Advantage plans offer this benefit to allow enrollees to obtain emergency and urgent coverage while outside of the United States and U.S. territories.
New Hanover Health Advantage members have an allowance to use for prescription glasses or for contacts. Annual visits are also covered.
Nurse Advice Line
New Hanover Health Advantage provides members 24-hour access to a free nurse advice line where they can talk to a registered nurse who can answer questions and help them decide what they should do about an issue they have. The nurse can also help members find a physician who accepts New Hanover Health Advantage insurance plans and practices near the member’s home or business.
New Benefits Introduced for 2022
New Hanover Health Advantage plans will offer some new supplemental benefits starting Jan. 1, 2022, including a monthly allowance for over-the-counter medicine, meals after a member is discharged from the hospital, and a low cost mail-order pharmacy.
To be eligible for a New Hanover Health Advantage plan, you must be entitled to Medicare Part A, enrolled in Medicare Part B and live in New Hanover, Brunswick or Pender counties.
