Unexpected Childcare Cost Expenses

If you have unexpected costs associated with childcare, you may be eligible for assistance through the Employee Benevolent Fund. Call the HR Solutions Center at (910) 667-6000 for assistance. In addition, please use the resources available to you through AIG/Valic and Smart Dollar.

AIG: NHRMC's Provider for Defined Contribution Plans

It’s now easier than ever to get one-on-one financial counseling. AIG Retirement Services has the resources to meet with you virtually – by phone, FaceTime or Webex. They’ve even simplified the process with step-by-step instructions on how to join an online Webex meeting and stay connected with your financial advisor. Schedule a time to meet virtually Monday-Friday at a time that is convenient for you.

Tax Preparation Assistance

NHRMC's Financial Resilience Committee has several resources for employees wanting help with their taxes this season.

UNCW Cameron School of Business

Taxpayers can receive access to free software to file federal and state tax returns and help filing taxes from an IRS-certified volunteer from the UNCW Department of Accountancy and Business Law.

New Hanover County Senior Resource Center and New Hanover County Library

Taxpayers can drop off their information at three locations to have their taxes prepared and filed for free. This service runs through  April 9, 2021.

H& R Block

H&R Block is offering a $25 off coupon for NHRMC employees who have never used the service before.

Returning H&R block clients can receive the $25 off discount at H&R Block's Pine Valley location (3538 S. College Road, Wilmington). Returning clients at other locations can receive H&R Block's Tax Identity Shield free of charge.

Home Ownership Preparation for Employees (HOPE)

The Resiliency Governance Council, financial committee, is offering team members a series of seminars looking to build equity as a homeowner in our region at no cost. The Home Ownership Preparation for Employees (HOPE) is a series that leverages local talent and experts ranging from realtors, financial planners and credit counselors.

The six-part series will be offered to team members on a quarterly basis with the first series being offered virtually beginning in April 2021. All sessions are held via ZOOM from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m.
