NCQA Quality Diabetes Care Recognition

Providers with New Hanover Medical Group - NHRMC Physician Group have been recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and the American Diabetes Association for providing quality care to patients with diabetes. 

To receive recognition, we submitted data that shows our ability to meet the program’s key diabetes care measures, including:

  • Eye exams
  • Blood pressure tests
  • Nutrition therapy
  • Patient satisfaction 

When people with diabetes receive quality care as outlined by these measures, they are less likely to suffer complications such as heart attacks, stroke, blindness, kidney disease and amputations.

QOPI Cancer Care Recognition

QOPI 526Cape Fear Cancer Specialists – NHRMC Physician Group has been recognized by the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) Certification Program, an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. The QOPI® Certification Program provides a three-year certification for outpatient hematology-oncology practices that meet the highest standards for quality cancer care.

To become certified, we submitted to an evaluation of our entire practice and documentation standards. The QCP staff and steering group members then verified that we met core standards in all areas of treatment, including:

  • Teatment planning
  • Staff training and education
  • Chemotherapy orders 
  • Drug preparation
  • Patient consent and education
  • Safe chemotherapy administration
  • Monitoring and assessment of patient well-being.

QOPI is a voluntary self-assessment and improvement program launched by American Society of Clinical Oncology in 2006 to help hematology-oncology and medical oncology practices assess the quality of the care they provide to patients. Through the QOPI program, practices review data from their patients’ records up to twice per year and compare it to more than 100 evidence-based and consensus quality measures.
